There are 3 versions of the applet:

• The first one uses a very simple gui and does not display comments in the pgn nor does it support automatic reloading of the pgn.
• The second is a special version I made for Hellas Chess Club and has a much better gui. It supports comments and automatic reloading (for real-time, online transmission of games).
• The third one is like the second, but allows users to create custom guis by using their own images for the buttons, by allowing the display of other images anywhere within the applet and by allowing the placement of the board, moves list, games list, e.t.c. anywhere within the applet. These settings are configured through the customgui.txt file which must be placed in the same folder as the html. The settings are quite straightforward and by looking the sample file you can easily create your own gui.

So, here are the features of the full version:

• Display one or many pgn files from the same applet.
• Load *.pgn, *.pgz (a zip file which contains one big pgn file) and *.pgn.gz files.
• Reloads the file after a user-defined time period (in seconds). This feature can be used in order to broadcast live chess games. To minimize server bandwidth, the reloading can take place only when the pgn file has changed.
• Creates a colorful display of subvariations and comments.
• Allows the usage of different chessboards and pieces.
• Allows the user to save the pgn file and flip the board.
• You can change the user interface completely, by writing your own skin.
• Fully operated by the keyboard. Just press the left, right, up and down arrows to view any game.

All three version can be easily previewed from your hard disk, but when you publish the applet in a web server you will need a valid license (per server name). You can request a free of charge license for the simple version of PgnWorldViewer. The full version costs €100.
